Superstition Shadows Park is a $1,400,000 outdoor concrete skatepark facility that opened its doors to the public on March 1, 2002. This skatepark is one of eight major capital facilities projects completed as part of the Capital Facilities Plan of Apache Junction and is one of many free skateparks in the Phoenix Metro area. Other skateparks in the area offer a more vert and deep bowl experience, but Superstition Shadows Skatepark is just as enjoyable and provides locals with hours of free skateboard fun. The street half of the skatepark is awesome! There are all sorts of banks and ledges and rails to try out your tricks. One of the longer rails drops down into the street area from the deck, so be sure to check it out. There’s also a big hip with a curved rail on top, and a ledge section with tiered ledges and a big ledge at the top. Get creative and have some fun! If you’re looking for a fun and challenging skatepark with plenty of transitions, Superstition Shadows Skatepark is the place for you. Although the snakeruns aren’t as big as those at Gilbert, Chandler or Paradise Valley, they’re still a blast to skate and make up for it with good lines and smooth concrete. This is an excellent park for kids to learn on – admission is free, no pads are required and it’s unsupervised. If you’re looking to skate transition, the Superstition Shadows Skatepark has your fix. The bowled snake runs are filled with smooth concrete and topped with metal coping, making them great for learning new tricks. On the other side of the park is where you’ll find the street section. The street section is comprised of multiple sizes of ledges, rails, and hips, ranging from beginner to advanced. Some of these features offered at the park are very unique to skate parks in general, as you’ll see in multiple features such as the step-up on the manual pad with a ledge. Superstition Shadows Skatepark is home to some of the most grindable edges in the area. The metal coping and angle iron are perfect for keeping your grinds looking clean and chunky-free. Plus, the onsite restrooms and fully lit environment make it the perfect place to spend an evening skating.
