January 15, 2023

If you’re looking to add a new trick to your skateboarding repertoire, the backside 50-50 grind is a great option. This move is easy to learn and can be performed on a variety of surfaces.

1. What is a 50-50 grind?

There is no definitive answer to this question as it depends on your personal definition of a “50-50 grind.” Generally speaking, however, a 50-50 grind is a situation in which both players are evenly matched, resulting in a back-and-forth battle that is difficult to win for either side. This type of match can be frustrating and exhilarating all at the same time, as each player is constantly trying to gain the upper hand.

2. How to do a 50-50 grind on a skateboard

There are a few different ways that you can do a 50-50 grind on a skateboard. The easiest way is to go straight into the grind from a standstill. To do this, you’ll need to approach the rail or ledge you want to grind on at a moderate speed. As you get close, start to transfer your weight to your back foot and then lift your front foot up and place it on top of the rail or ledge. Keep your back foot flat on the board and push off with it to start grinding.

If you’re already moving when you want to do a 50-50 grind, you can simply jump up and then place your front foot on the rail or ledge. Be sure to jump high enough so that your front foot clears the obstacle. As you come down, land on your front foot first and then quickly transfer your weight to it. Push off with your back foot to start grinding.

If you’re having trouble getting your front foot up onto the rail or ledge, you can use a trick called a “kickflip”. To do a kickflip, start by riding straight towards the rail or ledge. As you get close, jump up and quickly flick your back foot up and over your front foot. This will cause the board to spin in the air and land on the rail or ledge with your front foot.

3. Tips for mastering the 50-50 grind

There is no one way to master the 50-50 grind, but here are a few tips that might help:

1. Make sure you are comfortable with the trick before you try to learn it. It might help to watch some tutorials online or practice in a safe environment like a park or a deserted street.

2. Start slowly and build up speed. It’s important to maintain control while you’re learning the trick.

3. Use your bodyweight to help you balance. Shift your weight from side to side and front to back as needed.

4. Keep your head up and your eyes focused on where you’re going. It’s easy to lose your balance if you’re not paying attention.

5. Practice, practice, practice! The more you do it, the easier it will become.

4. Examples of 50-50 grinds

There are a few 50-50 grinds that are very popular among skateboarders. One of these is the Smith grind. To do a Smith grind, you start by rolling forward on your skateboard. Next, you lift your front foot and place it on the ledge in front of you. You then take your back foot and place it on the ledge behind you. Finally, you grind the ledge by pushing your front foot down.

Another popular 50-50 grind is the nose grind. To do a nose grind, you start by rolling forward on your skateboard. Next, you lift your front foot and place it on the ledge in front of you. You then take your back foot and place it on the ledge behind you. Finally, you grind the ledge by pushing your front foot down.
