Alix Rice Peace Skatepark
Alix Rice Peace Park is a memorial park located in the town of Amherst, New York, United States. The park was created in memory of Alix Rice, a local teenager who was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident by a drunk driver in 2011.
The park is spread over 2.5 acres of land and features a variety of amenities such as a playground, a basketball court, a pavilion, and a community garden. The park’s design was inspired by Alix’s passion for skateboarding, and it features a state-of-the-art skatepark with various ramps, bowls, and rails for skaters of all skill levels.
The centerpiece of the park is a beautiful water feature, which includes a fountain and a pond that is surrounded by benches and trees. The park also has a walking trail that encircles the pond, providing visitors with a peaceful and serene atmosphere.
In addition to providing a recreational space for the community, the Alix Rice Peace Park also serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible and safe driving. The park’s mission is to promote peace, understanding, and healing in the community, and to honor Alix’s memory by creating a positive and inclusive space for all to enjoy.
